Capita hosts technology innovation conference - Future Focus 2017
Capita IT Services recently held its Future Focus conference, attended by IT decision makers from a variety of organisations and commercial sectors to gain a Capita insight on technological changes and what it could mean for their respective businesses.
Future Focus, now in its second year, centred on information continuing to be a fundamental driver in how organisations operate in the modern age. It explored how advances in information technology have led to changes in the way users work and interact with each other - and have consequently helped reshape the infrastructure and operations of the modern business.
David Rowan, Wired Magazine’s former editor-at-large kicked off the day’s keynote speeches with an exploration of the current technology landscape as well as his insight into what we can expect in the not-too-distant future. With his wealth of experience, David shared his top 10 trends that IT decision makers should have on their radars, which included a variety of fascinating topics such as the evolution of artificial technology and automation, drones and robotics as well as current staples including Big Data and cyber security.
David’s presentation was followed by a keynote from Capita IT Services’ executive director, Joe Hemming, who described the business’s leading technical innovation and capabilities in the face of changing working trends. As one of the UK’s largest providers of digital infrastructure, our portfolio spans everything from contact centres to security, clouds to cables and software to workplace technology.
The day was then split into three talk tracks delivered by array of Capita subject matter experts:
- Information and workplace Innovation – Adrian Baker, technology advocate and business development director, Capita Network Solutions
- Access to information – Lee Walton, practice director, and Mehmood Khan, practice lead, Trustmarque
- Security off Information – an expert panel discussion consisting of Jonathan Forshaw, GDPR specialist, and Tom McCredie, security testing practice manager, both from Capita IT Professional Services; Steve Bernhardt, cyber solutions director, Capita Cyber Security; and Nick Wilding , general manager, Cyber Resilience, AXELOS.
The event gave the delegates an opportunity to have hands on demonstrations, which featured Capita partners showcasing a variety of innovative technology. The zone included next generation workplace technology, augmented reality, 3D printing, visual and collaboration technology as well as cloud and cyber security solutions.
