This year’s MJ Future Forum will be back for a live event at Moor Hall, Sutton Coldfield on 29-30th September 2021. We’re one of the headline sponsors for the event and will be speaking in the plenary session.

Confirmed speakers so far include Deborah Cadman, interim chief executive of Birmingham City Council, Martin Reeves, chief executive, Coventry City Council and Chris Hopson, chief executive, NHS Providers. Sponsors are BT, Capita, ENGIE, and Penna.

With an event focus on ‘Building Back Better’ post-pandemic, one of the key sessions will consider finance in advance of the Spending Review which is expected to lay out the Government’s spending priorities as we emerge from lockdowns. In addition, they will address local government’s key financial challenges from the loss of business rate income to dwindling resources.

There will be a session on social care and health and the lessons learned through the pandemic about integration – or the lack of it. The Forum will discuss the future of town and city centres as shopping, commuting and living habits change and local government strives to help its centres adapt.

There will also be sessions on climate change, the future workforce, the ongoing role of public health and the practicalities of the ‘levelling up’ agenda.
