With a highly resilient network servicing approximately 6,000 sites across Scotland and 52 member organisations which includes nearly 50% of local authorities, a number of Scottish Government agencies and all NHS boards, the Scottish public sector is now in an excellent position to embed video collaboration into the digital transformation journey.
Vscene, which has its heritage in the JANET video service (JVCS) has been rebuilt from the ground up by the Edinburgh based SME. The development team created a video platform that allows participants to connect from a wide range of devices including room-based video, web browsers and Microsoft’s Skype for Business. This is complemented by features such as shared whiteboards, presence, streaming and archiving and a roadmap of new features that will be offered during the coming years.
The service is already well established in the further and higher education sectors with over 10,000 organisations and 250,000 users participating in 200,000 hours of video sessions each month. The Vscene service helps in the delivery of teaching and learning through immersive video and content delivery.
Extending Vscene 2.0 to Scottish Public Sector offers access to a mature and operationally stable service for SWAN members delivered directly into SWAN’s data centres providing unrivalled end to end performance and service levels providing users an enhanced and guaranteed video experience.
The plan for SWAN was always to be more than a network and our partnership with Ajenta reinforces this commitment. From the outset the strategy has been to provide a range of additional services to support the public sector delivery and transformation. Video collaboration is a true multi sectoral solution that can support everything from Health and Social Care to Life Long Learning. Working with SMEs like Ajenta is also key in Capita’s support of Scotland and driving forward digital skills for a better Scotland.
