Whether you’re looking for guidance on anti-fraud measures, advice on protecting your identity, or to cut down on the amount of junk mail you receive, we hope you’ll find the information below useful.

New mail and cold calls: how to protect yourself and what to do if you’re a victim of fraud

A number of scams related to shares, binary options or pensions take the form of investors being cold-called and offered over-priced or non-existent investments (such as shares) or free pension reviews, designed to move money from the pension funds into high-risk investment schemes.

What you should do

If you receive such a request you should check the Financial Services Register of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to ensure firms are authorised or registered. You can then report the scam to the FCA either by calling 0800 111 6768 or using their reporting form.

If you think you have lost money to fraud, you should report it to Action Fraud online or on 0300 123 2040.

Details of any share dealing facilities that Capita endorses will be included in Company mailings. If you deal with an unauthorised firm, you will not be eligible to receive payment under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Find out more about the FCA's Be ScamSmart campaign and how to avoid investment scams on the FCA website
