Quantity Surveyor – High-Impact Projects, Hybrid Working, Local Focus
Capita Entrust is a multi-disciplinary consultancy specialising in the design, procurement, management and maintenance of public sector assets.
We deliver Architectural, structural engineering, MEP engineering, project management, cost management and CDM services to all areas of the industry. Most of our work is in the education sector supporting local authorities, academies and school across Staffordshire and neighbouring counties. Whilst education is our focus, we also operate in Blue Light, Health, Social Care and Regeneration.
We typically delivery projects ranging between £150,000 and £45,000,000 with most projects being around the £500,000 to £11,000,000 bracket ranging from classroom extensions to new build 2FE primary schools.
Due to a strong pipeline of work, we looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our service focussed property team at Entrust HQ in Riverway, Stafford. You’ll play a key role in managing costs and procurement across a variety of high-profile local government projects. With work predominantly based in the Staffordshire region, you’ll see the real-world impact of your efforts.
The role offers a flexible hybrid model, with three days in the office and/or site and the rest from home.

Job Description
What will you be doing:
Developing clear and insightful feasibility estimates and option appraisals to support strategic decision-making;
Producing accurate and detailed cost plans and pre-tender estimates that guide project budgeting and delivery;
Conducting thorough risk analyses to identify potential challenges and ensure proactive mitigation strategies;
Delivering comprehensive whole life cost assessments to support long-term value and sustainability;
Preparing tender documentation and managing the full tender process to ensure transparency and value for money;
Supporting contract administration, with opportunities to expand responsibilities as training and experience grow;
Contributing to project and programme management, with development pathways available based on experience;
Acting as Employer’s Agent on selected projects, with support and training to build confidence in the role.
Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure alignment, collaboration, and successful project outcomes.
What we're looking for:
Essential
Proven experience with NEC4 and/or JCT forms of contract.
Proficient in delivering full quantity surveying services (pre- and post-construction), including cost planning, tendering, contract prep, and cost management.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
RICS exempting or non-exempting degree.
Reasonable number of years’ experience in a quantity surveying role (including day release);
Desirable
Chartered status or working towards attaining chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the public sector (e.g. local/central government, NHS, education).
Background in education sector projects.
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary property team.
