Capita Public Service division
We’re the number one strategic supplier of business process services (BPS) and technology services to the UK Government. Public Service is structured across five market verticals: education and learning; local public services; health and welfare; defence, fire and security; and justice, central government and transport; as well as the non-consolidated Smart DCC subsidiary.
Capita Experience division
We’re the UK’s leading customer experience business with a blue chip client base, designing, transforming and delivering high quality customer service across telecoms, media and technology, financial services and other multi-industry areas.
Capita Portfolio division
This represents our expanded portfolio of valuable but non-core businesses focused on services and solutions across people, property, technology, software, business solutions, travel and FERA - the international centre of agricultural excellence.
Every day we help millions of people by delivering innovative solutions to transform and simplify the connections between businesses and customers, governments and citizens. We partner with clients and provide them with the insight and cutting edge technologies that allow them to focus on what they do best and make peoples’ lives easier and simpler.
We create better outcomes for :
- our people – by providing an environment in which they can thrive and develop
- clients and customers – by delivering solutions, transforming businesses and services, and by delighting them
- suppliers and partners – by treating them fairly and encouraging them to deliver
- investors - by delivering improving returns
- society – by acting as a responsible business for the communities we serve.
For example, we…
…run London’s congestion charge and ultra-low emission zones on behalf of Transport for London
…help the British Army attract, source and select its officers and soldiers.
…administer the Teachers’ Pension Scheme for the Department for Education.
Our purpose: people
Protecting human rights
Our systems, policies and processes are set up to identify any potential instances of exploitation and, if found, to eradicate this from our business and supply chain. We want everyone who works for us to benefit from a working environment in which their human rights are respected. Anyone we do business with must also uphold these principles.
Collaboration with wider partners
In addition to our supply chain, we also recognise that there are risks in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking outside of our core stakeholder groups which is why we work closely with other partners such as recruitment agencies and trade unions.
Operating fairly
We want to work with suppliers who share our values as we, in turn, treat them fairly and pay promptly. We’re committed to supporting more small and medium-sized businesses, and to increasing supply chain diversity and resilience. We benchmark ourselves against external indices and were the first business to be accredited by the Good Business Charter in 2020.
Our purpose: environment and sustainability
Our net zero roadmap
Underpinned by scientific targets, we’ve set out an ambitious roadmap to take us to net zero by 2035. These challenging targets are in line with global ambitions to limit warming to 1.5° and are strengthened by being linked to executive pay from 2022.
Reaching net zero by 2025
Our three phased approach is for us to reach operational net zero by 2025; operational and business travel net zero by 2030; and full net zero by 2035 including our supply chain, way ahead of the UK Government target of 2050.
How we’ll achieve this
We’ll achieve this by: reducing business travel emissions by 75% by 2030; transitioning our fleet to EV by 2032; moving to renewable power wherever available; continuing with building efficiency initiatives; and requiring our suppliers to meet set criteria.
The events of recent years have shown the importance of organisations – in the private and public sector alike – becoming agile enough to adapt, being resilient to change and efficient enough to ensure they can focus on the delivery of their core business.
