Capita has been re-selected by Westminster City Council to manage the authority’s revenues and benefits services for a further seven years, commencing November 2018, with the option to extend for three years, in a deal worth approximately £65 million over ten years.

The contract, which was awarded following a competitive tender, will see Capita continue to collect council tax and national non-domestic rates, manage housing benefits, and deliver business improvement levy services and associated customer management support.

Capita’s deployment of digital technology has contributed to improved performance across all collections in Westminster, with council tax and national non-domestic rates collections achieving their highest levels in recent years. Under the new contract, Capita will extend the use of Capita One, its digital platform for collections, across all services, providing single-user interface, better integration of systems and enhanced provision of data and insight using automation and robotics.

This renewal builds on a 24-year relationship between Capita and Westminster City Council, which will enable the council to maximise income generation and give its residents access to easy, integrated and modern customer services.

Cllr Rachael Robathan, Cabinet member for finance, property and regeneration, Westminster City Council, said: "This partnership helps us to collect council tax and business rates in an effective way, while offering good customer service. This income pays for vital services, which have a positive impact on residents’ lives."
