Capita Local Public Services are attending the 2018 Local Government Chronicle awards in March after being named as a finalist in three categories which showcase excellence across the sector.

The shortlisted categories include:

  • Team of the year – for the planning team at Re Ltd, our joint venture between the London Borough of Barnet. The team has delivered the planning service on behalf of the Council since 2013 and despite being one of the busiest planning departments in the country (and receiving the second highest volume of planning applications in London) the service is exceeding DCLG targets and delivering innovative ways to offer premium services to residents which is driving service improvements, generating revenue streams for the Council and supporting Barnet’s corporate priorities of transforming local services and delivering growth, regeneration and investment.
  • Driving growth – for our partnership with Blackburn with Darwen. In 2016 the Council and Capita formed an innovative place-based partnership providing a blend of services and business cases to deliver savings, income and growth for the borough. The partnership is already creating new opportunities around the development of land, local assets and skills, which is generating income and transforming the area. It is also supported by an integrated growth team who create feasible and financially viable development pipelines
  • Best public/private partnership – for Urban Vision, our joint venture with Salford City Council & Galliford Try. Since its formation in 2005, Urban Vision has generated over £20m worth of revenue for the Council and together with efficiency savings is enabling the Council to reinvest monies into more affordable housing, education, better infrastructure and green space to support the regeneration of Salford.

The winners of the LGC Awards 2018 will be announced in London on Wednesday, March 21.
