Through 20 years on the Royal Navy training contract, Claire has helped shape the future of Navy training for generations to come.

I feel very lucky when I think about my career journey: I started out as an administration assistant, and I'm now a head of department. I’ve had the chance to gain qualifications that keep me progressing, and I’m doing a Level 7 Apprenticeship right now.

I’m very self-motivated, always looking for the next thing to get my teeth into and that’s led to some exciting advances in my career.

The pace of change is constant, so you have to be very proactive. Every day is different, so flexibility is crucial to be able to work on your own while collaborating in a big team.

Every day we’re dealing with multiple stakeholders, and that can be tricky, too. One minute we’re talking to a trainer, the next to the senior leadership team. So, we’re skilful in adapting to our audience, and understanding their needs.
