Capita has published its first Low Carbon Transition Plan, setting out the actions the company is taking to reduce its environmental impact and progress towards net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2045.

The plan details how Capita is reducing emissions through increased energy efficiency, renewable energy, and by working with responsible suppliers who share its sustainability ambitions. It also explains how Capita is supporting clients in navigating their own low carbon transitions. The Low Carbon Transition Plan outlines:

  • A science‑based pathway to net zero by 2045, including detailed near‑term and long‑term emissions reduction targets verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
  • A comprehensive programme of action across property, business travel, procurement, AI use, and service delivery, setting out the specific levers Capita will use to reduce emissions across its value chain.
  • How Capita is preparing for climate‑related risks and opportunities, and embedding these considerations into decision‑making and governance.
  • A commitment to a just, inclusive transition, highlighting how Capita will support employees, customers, suppliers and communities through the shift to a low‑carbon economy.
  • Clear governance, financial planning and transparent reporting, outlining Board‑level responsibilities, integration into business planning, and annual public reporting against metrics and targets.

Claire Denton, Chief General Counsel at Capita, said: “Our transition plan sets a clear direction for Capita — creating positive, lasting impact for our people, our clients and the communities we serve.”
