We understand the apprehension that some may have around the use of AI. While AI presents more opportunities than risks, inherent challenges do remain. We’re working to mitigate these and are taking the lead to build a wholly transformed company that delivers leading and safe AI solutions. That means adhering to the right principles and having the right guardrails in place for every AI solution.
The AI Charter is a principles-based framework explaining how Capita designs, deploys and governs AI. It isn’t just a document, it’s a promise that every AI solution we deliver is designed with fairness, transparency and security at its core. The AI world is fast evolving, so we continuously have our AI Charter under review, undertake regular feedback and ongoing training as well as independent audits to help us adapt and stay aligned with ethical, legal and societal standards.

These are grounded in our company values and are designed to ensure AI is used responsibly: we’re 100% committed to upholding these principles in all our AI initiatives.
The principles of the AI Charter are supported by a governance structure that ensures the AI Charter is implemented and followed for all AI solutions throughout the organisation, with accountability at Executive level – through the AI, Cloud and Data Governance Council (AICDC) – and ultimate oversight from our Board.
We're very aware of our responsibility to ensure AI safely and ethically benefits our clients and their customers, the citizens who use Capita-powered public services, and our 34,000 people working across eight countries.
