Join us in celebrating National Apprenticeship Week this week as we shine the spotlight on some of our talented colleagues, who are receiving valuable skills and development opportunities from our wide range of apprenticeship programmes.

Stay tuned over on our Capita LinkedIn page throughout the week, where we’ll be sharing #NAW2025 content each day.

Today, we meet Scott Godridge, Head of Services at Capita, who is currently on our AI for Business Value apprenticeship programme with Multiverse. Don’t forget to watch Scott's day in the life video over on our LinkedIn page today.

What motivated you to take on an apprenticeship at Capita, and how has it impacted your career so far?
I manage the multiple software application service offerings that Capita offers to our clients, in sectors such as pensions, government services and healthcare.

The motivation behind taking on the apprenticeship is my desire for knowledge and lifelong learning, especially when I heard it was an AI course. AI is seen as the future and to be involved in such an apprenticeship can only add further to my skillset.

Can you share a specific project or task where the skills you gained from your apprenticeship were particularly beneficial?
The apprenticeship has allowed me to understand the terminology and language used when reading articles on AI and has allowed me to understand and appreciate the work which has been undertaken behind the scenes.

Have you faced challenges during your apprenticeship, and if so, how did you overcome them?
There have been many challenges throughout the programme, ranging from time management to adapting to the language and terminology. I’ve found the best way to tackle these challenges is to block time out in my calendar for various tasks and to collaborate with as many people as possible.

I feel proud to see so many other colleagues undertake the apprenticeship, even more so when I see staff who are within my reporting line get involved. I’ve also recognised possible areas where we can improve our use of GenAI and I’m excited about the future.
