Who are Capita

We’re a consulting, digital services and software business. Every day, we help millions of people by delivering innovative solutions to transform and simplify the connections between businesses and customers, governments and citizens. We partner with clients and provide them with the insight and cutting-edge technologies that give time back, allowing them to focus on what they do best and making people’s lives easier and simpler.

So what do we actually do? Well, we’re creating better outcomes for London with the new Ultra Low Emission Zone, which we built and operate the systems for, and we helped build the software that lets emergency services save lives through livestreaming. We’re also using AI to get chatbots talking, and transforming the way the British Army attracts candidates using virtual reality. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg: over 35 million people every day are touched by the services we provide.

We're currently going through our own transformation—improving, growing, developing, and putting our people first. Surrounded by talented and experienced professionals, you’ll be encouraged to challenge your colleagues, share your ideas and work together to uncover new solutions. Join us and discover how you can help shape the future of Capita.

The six apprenticeship schemes

Each of our apprenticeship schemes are based on and in a key part of our business, so you can really immerse yourself in what we do and how we do it. You’ll be working 80% and studying 20% of your time, and you’ll also be given specific time to professionally develop, attending classroom-based sessions on presentation skills, interpersonal skills, self-awareness and communication. You’ll have support from a buddy, mentor, and apprentice coach, as well as your line manager and the team around you. This is a permanent role, where you’ll be paid a competitive apprenticeship salary.

Why choose Capita?

We’re passionate about supporting people like you with real employment opportunities, particularly if you’re from a disadvantaged or underrepresented group. We want to give you the chance to build your confidence and skills in the workplace. Through our hands-on, immersive apprenticeships, we’ll support you every step of the way and at the end of your apprenticeship you’ll have nationally recognised qualifications, real work experience and a permanent job role.

At Capita we work in a horizontal structure—you’re not told what to do, rather everyone can contribute. In fact, we want everyone to contribute. We see every viewpoint as valuable and as an apprentice, your ideas will shape the way we work in the future.

Responsible Business

At Capita, we’re committed to being a purpose-led, responsible business creating better outcomes for our people, clients, suppliers, investors, and society. And we're always listening and we welcome ideas from all our colleagues as we strive to do more. We believe businesses should be part of the solution to the problems faced by societies all over the world, by putting the benefit to society and people at the heart of their success.

Support and career progression

We want to give you all the support you need to succeed. That’s why we’ve put lots in place to help you with every aspect of your apprenticeship.

  • You’ll belong to Capita’s Apprenticeship community—you’ll have the opportunity to take part in projects, networking events and competitions.
  • You’ll have access to a Capita careers and development coach who will support you with personal development and self-reflected learning.
  • You’ll have time dedicated to skills and behaviours training in communication skills, self-awareness and more, in addition to the apprenticeship you study.
  • You’ll have your own buddy to show you around, answer any questions you may have and act as a general support.
  • You’ll have a mentor outside of your business area who is open, objective and direct with you about your career goals, work-related issues, work-life balance and development or training advice.
  • We strongly believe in internal progression, so you’ll be in a strong position for future Capita opportunities post-apprenticeship.

The application process

The first step is to apply online and answer some eligibility questions. You’ll fill in an online form and although there’s an option to add a CV, it’s not necessary to attach one.

If you meet our eligibility requirements, you’ll go through a game-based assessment created by our partner Arctic Shores. This will help us find out more about you, and give everyone a fair, unbiased chance to do well. It’ll tell us all about how you learn, and you’ll get to see your results too, so you can see where your strengths lie.

If you reach the next stage of our application process, we’ll invite you to a virtual assessment event, which will last around half a day. This is a great opportunity for you to find out more about Capita and the areas you’ll be working in. We’ll want to find out more about you, so we’ll give you a task to research and present back on the day. You’ll also have a conversation with us which focuses on your future potential, rather than asking you to demonstrate past skills and behaviours.

If you’re successful at your virtual assessment event, you’ll be made a conditional offer and your onboarding process will start! We’ll also give you your start date and get you enrolled on your qualification.

Tips on applying

  1. Applications can be a little overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together some tips to help you do your best.
  2. Research the apprenticeship. Take some time to research our company and the apprenticeship itself.
  3. Take your time. Think about why you’re suited to the apprenticeship you’re applying for and take your time when you’re filling in the application.
  4. Make a list of your hobbies and what you’re good at, as well as any work experience you may already have. Double check!
  5. Ask someone you know to read through your application before you send it. Don’t wait for the deadline. Get your application in early, as we may need to close our application window earlier if we have a large number of submissions.
  6. Avoid applying for multiple roles in our Capita Apprenticeship Scheme – think about which is your preferred apprenticeship programme, and apply to your first choice only.

Good luck!

The Youth Group

The Youth Group is committed to improving the odds for young people and helping them into work. They support us in bringing future talent into our organisation. We’re also working with them to find solutions that help young people overcome challenges getting into work; whether they stem from social and economic disadvantage, mental health or other barriers that block them from accessing employment opportunities.

During the application process, if you pass our minimum eligibility criteria, you will be given the opportunity to connect with an ally from The Youth Group. Your ally will provide personalised guidance throughout the recruitment process and answer any questions you may have. Even if you’re not made an offer, your ally will provide mentorship and support with future career opportunities.

  • Together with our partners, we are committed to developing a programme at Capita that ensures we are:
  • Offering growth opportunities for young people
  • Providing more apprenticeships and work experience placements
  • Recognising and rewarding talent
  • Listening to young people
  • Encouraging our colleagues to volunteer their skills with young people

We want to instil confidence in young people and give them the support and advice they need to thrive in the workplace.
