Capita Ireland extends Eircode contract

Capita Ireland was first awarded the contract to develop, rollout and operate the System in October 2013. Following 10 successful years of partnership, the contract has been extended for a further three-years.

Capita Ireland’s Managing Director, Gillian Chamberlain, said:

“The use and adoption of Eircodes in Ireland is testimony to the successful management of the service and our collaborative relationship with the Department.”

Eircode is adopted almost universally across Ireland and is supported by the six largest international Sat Nav providers who integrate Eircodes within their products, facilitating speed of access to directions and accurate location services.

Eircode also continues to provide significant benefit to emergency services personnel and those living in more remote areas, following integration by the National Ambulance Service (NAS) into their Computer Aided Dispatch system.

Minister Chambers, commenting on the contract extension, said:

"Our partnership with Capita Ireland has been integral in the successful implementation and delivery of Eircodes across Ireland and I look forward to our continued partnership.

"Since the launch of Eircodes their usage, as part of an address, continues to grow and is used widely among the public, businesses and public sector. This can be seen by independent research and use of the free Eircode Finder website which has received 154 million look ups since launch. In 2020, independent research carried out by Amárach Research showed that 93.3% of respondents were able to supply a validated Eircode for their address.”
