Newcastle-based Orange Bus scooped the top accolade at last night’s Northern Digital Awards to be named Large Digital Agency of the Year 2017.

The awards, which took place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, recognise the very best in digital marketing campaigns and talent in the North, as well as rewarding websites across a number of sectors to reflect the ever-expanding online world.

Orange Bus demonstrated ‘good evidence of growth and real innovation’ to the judges, who said they were a ‘natural winner’ of the award, which centres around the level and calibre of business obtained, as well as the standard of work delivered to clients.

Scale is judged in a number of ways, but from an industry perspective the focus is also on social impact and media presence.

“We’re naturally delighted to win – our work has a lasting and genuine impact on the way people live, communicate and trade, and it’s great to recognised as a large agency that does that technically and innovatively well. It’s also a poignant moment as although we clearly are a large agency operating across the UK and Europe, we’re proud to say we still think and disrupt like we used to when we were smaller. No matter what size we become, we will always remain highly creative, technically brilliant and incredibly agile so we can turn on a sixpence – something the large organisations and brands we work with really value.” Julian Leighton, CEO at Orange Bus
