Chief Executive Officer
Jon was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 1 December 2017 and as such has a remit to manage and develop Capita’s business to achieve the Company’s strategic objectives.
Before joining Capita, Jon was Chief Executive Officer of the multi-national consultancy, engineering and project management business, Amec Foster Wheeler. Prior to that, he had a 20-year career at Halliburton Company Inc, where he held a number of senior roles, including Senior Vice President and was a member of the Halliburton Executive Committee.
His background very much reflects Capita’s core proposition as he has spent his career developing, selling and deploying technology-led services to enable clients to have smarter processes and create more efficient organisations.
Chief Financial Officer
Patrick Butcher joined Capita as Chief Financial Officer on 10 December 2018 and was appointed to the Board with effect from 1 January 2019.
Prior to joining Capita, Patrick was Group Chief Financial Officer at the Go-Ahead Group. Patrick is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (South Africa). He has over 17 years of experience as a finance director at Board level in transport and infrastructure companies.
Key to his role is setting financial strategy, policy and implementing a framework of business controls aimed at providing the financial stability to support Capita’s transformation and sustainable growth. He has more than 25 years of Board level financial management experience and a proven track record of helping companies successfully implement change and execute strategies.
He was formerly Group Finance Director of Network Rail as well as finance director roles at English, Welsh and Scottish Railways (now DB Schenker) and London Underground. He has extensive experience working as a management consultant and auditor for Deloitte LLP. He was a former member of the British Transport Police Authority.
Chief People Officer
Will Serle joined Capita in April 2018 as Chief People Officer, a new role created to support and deliver the HR and people strategy which is closely aligned to the wider business strategy and on-going transformation plan.
He is therefore responsible for implementing the foundations to drive the future HR and people agenda, supporting and advising the organisation to evolve Capita’s culture and ways of working for our employees.
Will has over 20 years of Human Resources experience, as well as a great track record in leading large teams through demanding and complex organisational transformations. Prior to joining Capita, Will was Chief People Officer at Amec Foster Wheeler where he led large cost reduction and efficiency improvement programmes.
Chief Transformation Officer
Garry Dryburgh joined Capita as Chief Transformation Officer in December 2017 and is responsible for developing, communicating and orchestrating the transformation programme for Capita.
He works closely with the senior executive leadership team who have shared responsibilities in achieving this, and collectively achieving the right balance between short-term improvement and delivery of our long-term vision.
Garry has a wealth of strong operations, programme and change management experience gained over his years working across six continents in close cooperation with clients, governments and business partners. Previously Garry was chief transformation officer of consultancy, engineering and project management company, Amec Foster Wheeler.
Chief Corporate Development Officer
Rupert is Chief Corporate Development Officer, responsible for strategy, investor relations and mergers and acquisitions. He has more than 20 years’ experience of capital markets and corporate transactions.
Prior to joining Capita in January 2018, Rupert worked at Amec Foster Wheeler between 2013-2017, where he was also a member of the executive committee and responsible for strategy, investor relations and mergers and acquisitions. He was a senior member of the team that put in place a corporate refinancing and operational turnaround plan, before its agreed takeover by Wood plc. Prior to AFW Rupert was a director in the UK investment banking team at Deutsche Bank for 15 years.
Chief General Counsel
Claire Chapman is Chief General Counsel, responsible for providing expert and strategic legal advice to the leadership team and the Board, to inform our strategic decision making. In particular her role focuses on risk exposure, liability, compliance and governance. Claire also plays an important part in leading best practice with regards to the nature and structure of our contracts.
Claire joined Capita from the Daily Mail and General Trust plc, where she was General Counsel and Company Secretary, with additional responsibility for internal audit, risk, corporate responsibility and their group-wide change programme. Before that, Claire was General Counsel and Company Secretary at Inchcape Plc and General Counsel, EMEA for the Reuters Group. Claire qualified as a solicitor at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and also trained as an attorney in New York.
Chief Digital Officer
As Chief Digital Officer Serge Taborin is responsible for formulating digital strategy and driving digital innovation.
Prior to joining Capita in December 2018, Serge was Digital Innovation Director at Aviva, responsible for identifying emerging technology trends and business models, and developing new digital services across the Group's markets in Europe, Asia and North America.
Serge has worked in a variety of senior roles, including as Managing Director at Archant Digital Ventures and Head of Group Strategy at Perform, which he helped develop into one of the fastest growing sports media businesses globally. He was also the CEO of Q App, a mobile payments business, which he co-founded and led to acquisition.
Chief Growth Officer
Ismail Amla is Capita’s Chief Growth Officer, accountable for business development, sales and marketing company-wide. Working to support our transformation and organic growth plans, Ismail is responsible for the ongoing delivery of tech-enabled solutions to clients and driving change to secure Capita’s position as the digital transformation partner of choice.
Named as one of the top 100 most influential black, Asian minority ethnic (BAME) leaders in the UK tech sector by board appointments firm Inclusive Boards, and specifically recognised within a group of five ‘highly commended disruptors,’ Ismail joined Capita in December 2018 from IBM where he led the Global Business Services division in North America.
Prior to that he served as CEO for Capco in North America. Before moving to the United States he operated in various leadership roles including Partner for Accenture and Vice President for CSC Computer Sciences.
Corporate Affairs Director
Katja is responsible for both Capita’s internal and external communications, including employee engagement and public affairs. She is a member of the Executive Committee, providing strategic guidance as we work to reposition Capita in the marketplace and create an organisation where our people are proud to work.
Katja brings with her a wealth of valuable experience. She was Group Head of External Affairs at HSBC where she was responsible for external communications, public affairs and sustainability. Prior to joining HSBC, Katja was Deputy Director-General at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and led CBI’s policy development and advocacy work in the UK and internationally. She led campaigns on skills and education, public service reform, trust in business and diversity.
Executive Officer, Capita Software
Chris joined Capita in November 2016 and leads our Software division which comprises a group of diverse businesses creating digital and software solutions to make our clients businesses more efficient and cost effective. Clients include HMRC, NHS and HSBC.
Prior to Capita, Chris was Executive Director at Xchanging where he was responsible for Xuber, Xchanging’s Insurance Software division.
Before joining Xchanging Chris spent 17 years at Oracle, latterly as the global Senior Vice President of Oracle’s Independent Software Vendor and Java businesses. Prior to Oracle Chris held several senior UK roles, including Sales Director at Digital Equipment. Chris has over 30 years’ experience in the technology and software industry.
Executive Officer, Capita People Solutions
Erika joined Capita in July 2017 and as Executive Officer for our People Solutions division has responsibility for a portfolio of market leading HR businesses.
She has 25 years’ experience within the HR managed services industry, managing and developing businesses to achieve their strategic objectives, including major public and private sector UK and global enterprise partnerships.
Prior to Capita, Erika was a plc board member within the Manpower group of companies; executive board member from 2003 to 2017 holding a number of roles covering operations, sales, marketing, training and learning and development. She was appointed Vice President within the global sales organisation and a member of the Manpower Global leadership team.
Executive Officer, Capita Customer Management
Mike Barnard is Executive Officer for our Customer Management division which provides market leading contact centre, data, analytics and digital services to prestigious UK brands such as O2, Samsung, BBC, John Lewis, M&S, BMW, British Gas and Dixons Carphone. He is also responsible for support operations in the UK, Poland, India and South Africa, across the Utilities, Retail, Financial Services and Telecoms/Media sectors.
Prior to joining Capita in March 2012, Mike was Director of Business and People Transformation at Cable&Wireless Worldwide. His areas of responsibility included Corporate Strategy, Transformation, HR, Talent Management and Communications. Before this, Mike worked at The Boston Consulting Group as a management consultant.
Interim Executive Officer, Capita Government Services
Patrick is Interim Executive Officer for our Government Services division which delivers technology-enabled business services for a broad spectrum of central government, local authority, health and wider public-sector clients. This includes a number of high-profile contracts such as the Congestion Charge for Transport for London. Through our multi-service local government and education partnerships we help our clients save money, transform services and create social and economic value that helps their locality thrive.
Patrick joined Capita in 2013 and prior to his current role was Managing Director of our Central Government Services business. Before joining Capita he was CEO at privately owned flexible office specialist ‘Instant offices’ where he grew the business by over 30%. Prior to that Patrick worked at Serco as CEO of ‘Business Link in London’ where he led the turnaround and transformation of that service.
Executive Officer, Capita IT Services
Joe is Executive Officer for Capita IT Services which provides market leading IT outsourcing and network solutions to a broad range of key clients including within the education, local and central government and healthcare sectors.
Having worked in the IT Services Sector for 25 years prior to joining Capita in April 2016, Joe was Chief Operating Officer for ATOS UK and Ireland and spent 20 years with CGI (formerly Logica) in various executive roles including CEO of the UK and Global Outsourcing businesses. In these roles he has extensive experience creating high performing teams, delivering strategic transformation for growth and serving UK and International clients in both private and public sector.
Executive Officer, Capita Specialist Services
Jim is Executive Officer for our Specialist Services division which comprises a portfolio of unique businesses and commercial ventures providing a diverse range of services to private and public sector clients.
Jim joined Capita in July 2012 and has since run a number of businesses and divisions across the Education, Health and Financial sectors.
Prior to Capita, Jim was a member of the UK Executive team of Sopra Steria, with responsibility for government, health and education services. He also led a number of Business Process Outsourcing / IT joint ventures in the Health and Financial Services sector. Jim also has extensive experience in the Consulting, Financial Services and Car Manufacturing sectors.
